November 6th, 2007 ☆ The old man.
There's this old man, who sits on his veranda every morning.
Doesn't matter if it's hot or cold, raining, snowing or sunny...
He sits on his porch, and I can only assume he watches everything passing by him. He usually smiles at me when I pass him.

Yesterday, he wasn't out there sitting on his porch.
So I spent a good portion of my walk wondering if something had happened to him, because I go to school four mornings a week, and I've always seen him sitting there.

Well, he was there this morning.
So I guess he's all right.
I had half the mind to stop and ask him why he wasn't there yesterday, but I figured not only was it not any of my business, it would be extremely weird. Haha.

October 4th, 2007 ☆ ファックユー。
So.
Here I am, hanging out at the JStone, and since we close in a little more than a week (October 15th) it's not very busy. Not to mention all the kids are back in school, so people don't really come camping during the week. Makes sense.

So I'm just surfing around (because let's face it, there's no here, therefore there's no one to clean up after or to check in and the phone isn't exactly ringing off the hook), and I found this guy's blog.

http://www.oshawapilot.ca

Turns out, he was a camper here sometime this summer.
Turns out he blogged about us.
Too bad it wasn't very nice.

He said this:
Biggest rip-off: JamRock. $40 for a campsite, $10 extra for our two children (WTF?), and $6 for a tiny bag of firewood. When we called from our cell to inquire for availability, the girls answering the phone at the desk apparently had no idea about the basics of campgrounds, despite being employed by a campground - it took me three different girls to finally get an answer to the question “Do you have any full service campsites available tonight”. When we arrived shortly afterwards, it was clear to me the reason behind this was that social time amongst themselves was more important then customer service. Once checked in, Interested in using their WiFi internet? Unsurprisingly, you pay per minute. Yes, overall the campsite was clean and well organized, but given the midweek vacancy rates and negotiation power that gives you at local hotels, one must ask themselves why they’d pay nearly $60 to camp when I know I can negotiate a room at a 4 star hotel for $15 more.

Let's go over this, shall we?
One: if you had said, "full service" ANY of the girls working here would have known what you meant. Maybe there was some miscommunication. He was on a cell phone; so who knows what the quality of that was like.
No, I'm not a camper, but I've worked here for years, and yes, I know what it means. Anyone we train, knows what it means it's one of the first things we learn. So I can't even begin to believe that could be remotely true.

Two: The cost was not $40.00 per night. It couldn't have been if you wanted a full service site. And for two kids, it's $6.00, not $10.00. You can WTF all you want about it, but we either raise our prices to include kids, or you pay for them separately. Why? Because we have a rec program that runs from 9 - 9. If we didn't have it, you'd be be bitching about that too.

Three: Yes. We're all friends. But no, we all also understand that work time is for WORKING and taking care of customers. I don't know who was on when you were here, but if we want to hang out and socalize, we get together NOT at the campground.

Four: Erm. Wifi has NEVER been by the minute. I guess somewhere along the line there he was massively confused. Why would we charge by the minute? That's retarded. It's $5.00 for the day, which works out to $0.003 a minute. So if we did charge by the minute, it would be not even one cent per minute, in which case is definitely NOTHING to bitch about.

Five: Next time, I wish you GOOD LUCK at getting a four star hotel for $55. No seriously. Record it, and send it to me. Because I would honestly love to see it. This is a tourist city; if you really think you can get that kind of hotel for that price, you're living in some sort of fantasy world.

But hey.
At least he said our park was clean.
It just goes to show, you can't make everyone happy, no matter what you do or how hard you try.

September 17th, 2007 ☆ Blah.
So lately, I feel kind of... blah.
Crappy, I guess, but I can't put my finger on what the reason is.
Maybe it's because I haven't really been eating lately. I have absolutely no appetite, again, and I couldn't care less whether or not I eat. Which yes, is absolutely horrible. And I KNOW that, which almost makes it worse.

If you take Friday, Saturday and today,
I've had eight cups of tea, a ham sandwich, a grilled cheese sandwich, crackers and hummus, two small slices of pork, a bit of mashed potatoes and about five Oreos.

That's not really enough for three days, is it?
But oddly enough I don't have a headache or feel dizzy or anything.
I just ... feel blah.

But on the other hand,
I've been really interested in lucid dreaming lately.
I don't know even where I started to hear about it, but I think it's terribly interesting.
So I was reading about how to train yourself to do it, and before I go to sleep I tried a bunch of these different techniques.
Last night, it worked! Sort of.
I know at one point, I knew I was dreaming (which is what a lucid dream is; you know you're dreaming and you therefore can control your dreams). I was able to make some choices, but there were other things that seemed to slip out of my control. So I think I had a hard time holding onto the, "I know I'm dreaming" thing. But it was cool.

Tonight I can try again!
It would be something else to be able to completely control your dreams.
At least that way, for a little while, I could get anything I wanted, haha.
