Away in a Manger

In the Christmas book I normally use (I’ll have to get the title when I go home) Away in a Manger is recommended to be preceded by Silent Night. There;s this one part of Silent Night that kills me, for some reason… my fingers always trip up. So I decided to do Away in a Manger because … I could, and it’s my mum’s favourite.

Angels We Have Heard on High

If you know me, then you’ll probably know that for some reason, I love playing Christmas songs. I don’t really listen to Christmas music that often, but I play it on the piano. Every Christmas I play a little bit for my family… especially now that we celebrate at my parent’s house.

As per usual, the recording quality isn’t very good. I just use a normal mic, so I’ve done the best I can do with it, haha.

Here’s a recording of Angels We Have Heard on High.

Crunchy Peanut Butter might be the devil

I still have a stomach ache.

You know, the one I had yesterday. Well, it never went away.

It’s slowly going away now… this morning I didn’t think I’d be able to eat all day, but I think I might be able to eat some lunch now. So that’s a lot of progress.

And I think what did it this time around, was the peanuts.

I’m not supposed to eat nuts, peanuts, or anything like that because apparently, they’re hard to digest. I mean, if I eat a few nuts in a chocolate bar or something like that, that’s not going to give me a stomach ache. But I can’t have a fistful of peanuts, and expect to be fine.

So cut to this past week. Well, maybe the past four days or so… when I discovered that we had crunchy. peanut butter hiding in our cupboard. I will not eat smooth peanut butter. Only crunchy. So I happily made some toast with the spread. I probably had about five pieces (not all at once, over the course of a few days) and I think that’s what gave me the stomach ache. The accumulation of all those chunks of peanut that I never even thought about it.

I like peanut butter, but I don’t think it was worth this stomach ache.

So I guess I can just add that to the list of random things I can’t eat without feeling sick. But on the plus side, Melinda and I had popcorn the other week and I had no problems from that. I’ve recently found a bunch of foods I shouldn’t be eating though… and some are disappointing. Like broccoli. I like the little trees, but they kill me.

A week.

IT HAS BEEN A WEEK SINCE I LAST UPDATED MY BLOG.

I have something I want to write, but I’ll likely save it for when I’m not at work.

Right now, my stomach really hurts. I think I ate too much, too fast. Or maybe just enough, and too fast. The main point of this, is that I think I ate too fast and now I have a stomach ache and it’s incredibly uncomfortable.

I finally went to the bank yesterday. I had stored up five pay cheques, which always makes depositing them feel more rewarding. However, it’s not as appreciated by my bosses…

Fair enough.

Okay, so yesterday. Steve came over to tune my piano (he’s also my boss) because it needed tuning and I always get it done around Christmas time so the Christmas songs sound nice and not really weird. I mean, when you have to play things in octaves, and the notes don’t sound the same, you have a bit of a problem.

Anyways, this isn’t about my piano tuning. While Steve was tuning, we were talking (and I was playing Fire Emblem). So he decided that he would find me a boyfriend, which would therefore make me not want to go to Japan and I would stay here, and continue teaching at the Conservatory.

Doesn’t that sound awfully familiar? Kind of like what Mr. A said?

Steve decides that someone I already know (I’m not mentioning names here) would be perfect. So he’s like I’LL SET YOU UP! HE’S GOING PLACES YOU KNOW!

I said it’s okay. I mean, I know the guy and he is really nice and all, but I’m really not into being set up.

It’s flattering to know people don’t want me to leave, and it makes leaving that much harder. But at the same time, I need to go out and do my own thing… and try new things. I’m not saying I’m going away forever and never coming back, or not going to keep in touch with people… but I do need to do my own thing, you know?

Anyways. Yes.

I need to write about something else later, and even though poor Ailea has already heard it all, I need to vent it all out here so it’s out and cleared from my head. So, that’s it. For now.

Banana phone!

I forgot to post about how sweet one of my piano students is!

Last night, Chayan brought me banana cake, from Tokyo.

They had a Japanese exchange student stay with them for a little while, and she recently sent a package to his mum with some Japanese snacks and whatnot (from my understanding). Or maybe it was just this banana cake, I’m not sure.

But regardless, he knows that I lived in Japan and loved it there, so he brought me one because he thought I would like it. How sweet is that?

And Sophia had a riddle for me. Who’s awesome and good at playing piano?

The answer? BOTH OF US.

Hahahahaha. I’m going to miss these kids when I go away.

Why snow is now my mortal enemy.

It’s snowing here.

I mean, a lot more than it normally does for November. At least, I feel like it’s a lot more than normal. You kind of forget year to year… but regardless, I felt surprised at the amount of snow.

Last night, when I had to go to work, I had to brush some of it off the car, but it wasn’t too bad. However, when I was leaving work, I had a slight problem. One, I didn’t have any gloves. Two, I had no snow scraper or brush. Three, I pretty much had nothing to brush the snow off except my sleeve.

So naturally that’s what I used, which needless to say got snow everywhere and made my hands pretty damn cold.

Eventually they stopped burning and I had Candy Cane Ice Cream.

So, this morning. My car is covered, yet again, in snow. And leaves. And branches. e_e

I’m not exactly a morning person, so you can safely assume that I was in no way running early or on time. My mum said check the trunk because there might be a brush in there, but alas, there was nothing. Except an umbrella.

So I used the umbrella to clean off the car, and got some weird looks from people who were nearby. But hey, it actually worked pretty well. Except for the fact I was dumb and opened the car door before brushing off the door, and got snow all over my seat. :/

I managed to get some of the snow out, but not all of it. Finished cleaning off the car (kind of, I’m not exactly ridiculously tall, so reaching the middle of the back window and the top of the car proves to be difficult and my car ended up having a snow mohawk).

And on my way to work, realized that my seat was wet and was soaking my pants. NOT. COOL. It was from the snow in the car, plus the snow on my sweater. I didn’t realize how covered it got until I felt the wetness seeping through my jeans.

WHAT A WONDERFUL MORNING FEELING.

I have now decided that my mortal enemy will be snow.

What kind of freaky devil number is that?

So I just was looking at the S-T stats, and it read: 2666.

Which of course, made me laugh.

And then I was wondering, who got 1666 this year? I’ll have to check when I get to work tomorrow.

Mr. A also has decided that he’s going to convert the rec hall into a place for me to live so that I don’t have to go to Japan. Seeing as his other ploys didn’t work out, I wonder how this one is going to fair. You gotta give it to him though, Mr. A is pretty awesome.

RIDICULOUS.

I was just watching the news, and they told a story about a boy named Jordie who lives in one of the areas of the city that I do, isn’t being allowed to play hockey because some dumbshit complained.

I don’t really know anything about hockey, but this little boy is seven. Seven.

From the beginning of the season, he’s been playing for this team. The coach asked the board if it he was able to play for them (because of residency rules; you have to live in the area that you play for, or something) and at first was told no. Then, the told the coach yes and approved the official roster. WITH Jordie’s name on it.

Now some idiotic piece of crap asshole complained about Jordie playing on the team, because of the residency rule,  and  suddenly, he can’t.

He’s been through ten games with this team (I think that’s what they said) and obviously been going to practices. He seems to like playing for them, the coach wants him to play for them, and because of some lameass politics and someone who has nothing better to do with their time, but make ridiculous complaints, he’s not allowed?

I mean, he’s a seven year old kid! He’s not trying to get a spot on the NHL, he’s trying to have a fun time playing on this hockey team.

I would seriously love to scream at the asshat who lodged the complaint. I mean really, how low can you get? What do you gain from it? You upset a little boy, and of course his family. His teammates, and his coach. All for what? I can’t even begin to think of a possible reason that would make that moron’s actions make sense.

It’s people like that are wrong with the world. Them, and my neighbour.

It actually wouldn’t surprise me if it was my neighbour, but I don’t think she’s interested in hockey seeing as she has three little girls, and I couldn’t imagine she’d let them play a sport like that. (Or that they’d want to, they don’t really seem like sporty girls).

People can never remember their expenses.

Admittedly, I thought most of the campground stories were over with. Seeing as I’m working in the office now, and not at the campground itself.

As I mentioned before, there is a phone here in which all campground calls are forwarded to. And every now and then I do get the odd call (usually, it’s just a telemarketer). I also keep up with the campground e-mails, just in case anything important arises.

Well, today I got an e-mail from a gentleman who was convinced that we over charged him. In May.

My first response was, why the hell did you wait six months to contact us about it? I mean really now.

So I pulled up his account to check it out, and no. We did not overcharge him. He bought tour passes, which he charged to the same credit card. So I wrote him back, kindly explaining how he was in no shape, way or form, over charged.

People do this a lot. And this guy wasn’t rude at all, he was quite nice about it. But I would have to be very very very sure that I was actually overcharged before I said anything about it.
