NO BARGAINING.

So, I get this call from this gentleman who was inquiring about cabin prices, for a week in July or August. After we decided that he wasn’t interested in the basic camping cabin, he wanted to know the prices for the six person cabin.

This is how the conversation progressed.

Me: We only rent them in blocks, so for a week it’s Sunday to Sunday or Thursday to Thursday.
Him: I’d want Sunday to Sunday.
Me: Okay, so for two adults and two children it would be $1150 plus taxes.
Him: *copious amounts of laughter*
Me: O_O
Him: Are you serious?
Me: Yes.
Him: THAT IS SO EXPENSIVE.
Me: That’s Niagara Falls.
Him: Yeah, but with the economy the way it is… can’t you give me a break?
Me: No, sorry.
Him: I’ll give you $800 for the week.
Me: O_O There’s no bargaining.
Him: YOU CAN ALWAYS BARGAIN!
Me: O_O
Him: Okay, how about $900?
Me: No seriously, there is no bargaining. And honestly, we’re almost filled up for the summer.
Him: Can’t you cut me a deal? With all these economic problems….
Me: No.
Him: Well it’s all great for the Americans, they get fifty cents on the dollar!
Me: O_O
Him: So, $900?
Me: No, sorry.
Him: Why don’t you take my number down, ask your boss, and call me back?
Me: I can give you a 100% guarantee that he will give you the exact same answer I have. There is no bargaining.
Him: Well, I want to stay there, but you don’t want my $900 so I guess I’ll have to give it to the guys down the street.
Me: I guess you will.

Seriously.

Scott was like, give him props for trying! But there’s trying, and there’s being down right irritating.
