Oh boy.
What a day it was.
I don’t mean that in a bad sense, it was just one of those crazy days.
I’ve had a headache for a good chunk of it too, which doesn’t help when you’re teaching. But luckily, my last class was just four awesome kids who are pretty easy to teach and a lot of fun.
My adult class this morning was hilarious. They’re older (most of them are in their fifties and sixties, but there are a few who are younger). There are two students in particular who joke around a lot, and poke fun at each other, which creates a really fun and enjoyable atmosphere for the class.
Eri and I went out for lunch like we do every Friday, and I had mabo-han for the first time since I’ve been back in Japan. I love that stuff; can’t go wrong with rice, tofu and meatsauce. The rest of the day went pretty well, minus the headache. I had one class that was a bit hard to handle, but I made it through and everyone left smiling.
Over the past couple of weeks we have been distributing an enquete to each family, asking how they got to know about the school, what they think about it, and so on and so forth. One of my student’s faxed theirs over this morning, because we’re closed next week for vacation and their lesson day is Wednesda so they won’t be in again before hand. In the comments part, they wrote (well, their parents, obviously) that they were really sad when the former teacher had to leave, but, that they like me and that they think I’m charming, haha.
It was funny because I was trying to glance at it and read it quickly, but it’s all handwritten so I was having a hard time reading it. All I made out was that they were sad that the former teacher left, and then I saw something with my name. But, Eri came back in and I wasn’t sure if I was allowed to be reading it or not, so I walked away, haha. Until she told me later what it said, I was so nervous it said something like OMG WE HATE HER. Or something. I get paranoid, quite obviously.
Anyways, as you can imagine it made me feel good to know that they’re happy with their classes. I don’t think we’ve gotten any complaints about lessons, except for one of the mother’s in my little kids class wants to spend a bit less time colouring (we always do a craft and it almost always involves colouring). So, last time I added an extra song so we did just that, and I hope that it helped.
So yes… that’s good. Haha.
