Beach!

Today Kat and I finally got a perfect summer day at the beach! We were hoping Melinda could come with us, but it didn’t work out. Hopefully we’ll have another nice weekend so we can all go together! It seems like the real summer weather is kicking in now. A bit delayed.

I didn’t have to work and Kat doesn’t work on weekends, so at about 10:00am this morning we met up at Silks, which is a diner that serves very decently priced and good tasting breakfast. We both had french toast and now that I think about it, I don’t think I’ve had anything else there.

I got there a bit early, so I was waiting for Kat and I had to wait in line anyways for a table because it was super busy. There was this lady who came in after me, and she was nice to me because she said “Make sure you stay in front of me so they don’t serve me first!”. Which was really nice, because she wasn’t trying to butt-in or anything. But then when she was talking to the waitress, she was so rude! I was kind of shocked.

The waitress asked her how many people were dining, and the lady is like, well, we need two tables. So the waitress is like okay. . . but, how many people will there be? And the lady goes, well only two of us are here now, but we need two tables. The girl asked one more time saying that she just needed to know a number and the lady says, WE COME HERE EVERY WEEK. WE NEED TWO TABLES.

Dude, is it really hard to say something like, oh there will be six of us. There will be eight. There will be seven. I mean come on, don’t be difficult.

Anyways, we ate and headed off to the beach! Perfect weather for it, seriously. We were there for about three hours but started feeling a bit burnt and decided to call it a day. We went for a swim, but the water was pretty cold so unfortunately we didn’t last long. Kind of makes me wish I was like, seven years old again when you never seemed to feel the coldness of the water.

There were crazy parents behind us, but I don’t want to get into that. I’ve seen so much poor parenting in the past month that I feel like I could write a book on it. I know I’m not exactly in the position to say because I’ve never had a kid of my own, but at the same time some things are just common sense.

So, after that we were having a craving for chips which we went and got and then trekked back to Kat’s house to clean up and change. From there we headed to my house, got some money out and met up with Jenn at Montana’s to celebrate her birthday which was August 13th.

It’s been so long since the three of us have been able to hang out! So we had a nice dinner (ate waayy too much) and went to Starbucks to talk some more. I started to feel kind of light headed and we were all pretty tired so we weren’t out very late, and I took Kat back home.

But here’s the story. See, you know the other day when I talked about how I got the gas out of my old car and put it into the red one? Well, a bit of gas spilt onto the gas can and into the plastic bag that the gas can was in. The can was in my trunk for about two days and my car REEKED like gas. I think spending all that time in the car today made the fumes get to me. I kid you not. I left my back windows down tonight in hopes that it might air out a little and since I have to work at eight, it’s not like they’ll be down all day or something.

I also learned that I got burnt. On my back and on the back of my legs. It’s… extremely uncomfortable. I put sun screen on my legs, so I have no idea why they’re burnt but I did miss my back. :/ It’s my own fault so I shouldn’t really complain and at least my face isn’t burnt.

But yes, it was a great day. I got home, updated S-T a bit and everything seems to be going smoothly.

Except for the person who decided to cheat in the contest. We called them out the first time and denyed it. We showed them proof and they admitted to it. Then they went right back to cheating. I mean seriously, the way Hideko and I watch the stats on our baby, do you really think we wouldn’t notice?

Yay for perfect beach weather, booh for burning.

That lady sounds aweful. You know I have one of those folding bicycles? Well, people are freaking annoying when you want to get out and don’t seem to be able to wait very well, which drives me up the wall. Especially because I’m always last to get out, with the bike and all. Anyway, last Friday this lady (sixty something I think) starts getting on the train while I’m still trying to get out. I almost hit her in the head with my bike! So I say something like ‘lets wait’, and she starts yelling at me!

I don’t know what she said, I didn’t stop or look back. Dude. I just don’t get why people have to be so impolite. I know you want to get a seat. But either the train is already so full it doesn’t matter, or it’ll be so empty you’ll have a seat no matter what. Elbowing your way in, is not going to work.

Sorry for writing such a long comment, but your story reminded me of that.
