Lately, I have two elevator buddies.
Well, not quite but I end up taking the elevator with them every now and then.
The one is from my building. The first time we rode the elevator together, I surprised him. A lot. I dunno if it’s because he wasn’t expecting someone else to be in the elevator (there usually isn’t) or because I wasn’t Japanese… but either way, he was like OH! So I said sorry, and, oh you were surprised [in Japanese], haha. We laughed.
Today, he came into the elevator again, and was all OH!! Surprised, haha. (Am I shocking or something?). Then he laughed and said sorry [in English]. On his way out he gave a little wave and nod. Super cute.
The other buddy I have made works in the same building as my school is in. He has bleached blonde hair, and he’s older. Maybe in his 40′s. Every time I see him now, (it’s always been in the mornings) I said good morning [in Japanese] to him, he replies… then it must click that I’m not Japanese, and he says, GOOD MORNING! Hahahaha. I love it.
One time we were riding down to lunch (Eri and I) and he got in. He was with someone else, and I don’t know who started it, maybe his friend, but they said in Japanese, Oh, it’s cold today. Then my buddy goes in English, IT’S A COLD!! So I said yeah, it’s really cold!! In English back, which for some reason, they seemed to think was great. He seems really friendly.
I like random encounters like this.
I don’t know why, but I do.
I changed the password.
(Not since a few days ago).
Just message me if you want it.
I forgot everyone who had it, and that started to bother me.
Well, more than a month has passed since I wrote a real entry here.
There’s no reason for it… as I always say. I guess I just haven’t been motivated to write anything. That said, I have been making a big effort to update my Japanese blog on a regular basis, haha.
School has been going well, and we’re getting the preschool all set up.
It kicks off in April.
Level checks are in two weeks, so this week is review.
We’ve had a bunch of new kids start and come for trials, which is also, awesome.
One of my awesome students is leaving though, which sucks. He just lives too far and it’s too difficult for his mum to get him to the school on time every week because as it turns out, she has to leave work to drop him off and pick him up.
Other than that…. not a lot is new, haha.
I was going through my LJ looking for something I had posted a while ago.
I couldn’t remember when I had posted it, so I was just browsing through.
I came across this post, which for some reason just made me laugh. I can still picture my dad doing it. Since I had written it before Pink-Spider.net was redone, it’s not on this site. I’d like it to be on the site, because I think it was a cute story, and my dad is awesome.
oh dad.
So, we’re in the living room. And my mum goes, “Hey, come here and teach me how to use the search thing on the thing”. I asked if she meant the TV or the computer, and she said the TV. She wanted to search for a program to find out when it was on, and she wanted to know how to do it for next time.So I said okay, and got the remote from my dad.
We get to the screen where you type in the program name, and it says something like “Please use the on-screen keyboard to type in the program name you are searching for”, which is followed by a keyboard where you select the letters (using the remote). My dad goes, “Wait a minute, I want to try something”.
He gets up and goes over to the TV. I thought he was going to try to make the picture more clear, because sometimes he thinks it’s fuzzy and tries to adjust it.But no.
He takes his finger, and starts pressing the letters on the screen – like you would one of those touch sensitive screens at the ATM or movie theatre.I said to him, O_O What are you doing?
And he goes, IT SAYS USE THE ON-SCREEN KEYBOARD.No dad. No. That doesn’t mean you press the screen.
He sat back down all, I don’t know why it says use the on-screen keyboard.Hahahahaha. He’s … not exactly totally in touch with technology. As you can tell.
Here we go.
We all need more random questions in our lives.
One of my students drew a picture of me! Haha.

She’s a really cute girl. One day she was singing 「さくらんぼ」 and because it was super popular when I was in university here (and because barby played a cover of it at their oneman) I know it quite well.
So I sang along with her.
She was really surprised. WHY DO YOU KNOW THIS SONG!?
Haha. Cute.
