I mean, I don’t have an overly exciting life, but it’s kind of nice to have a record of stuff. I also thought maybe I should blog more…. thoughts? Opinions, or what not. And someday, maybe I can write a book.

Okay, maybe not really.

Although I really would like to write that book about the campground…. someday.
It really would be a top seller. How can you not love campground stories?!

Anyways, when Hitomi and I were hanging out at the fountain near Oasis the other night, we decided that the name for my hypothetical autobiography will be….

Your name is Adrienne…. why you no speak French!?

in tribute to all of the French Canadian campers that said that to me over the years.

Of course you have to read it with an angry French Canadian accent, or it really just doesn’t have the same effect.

And yes, to all of those campers, I realize that my name is French (although, some other sources suggest it’s actually originally from Latin). But it’s not like telling me that my name is French is going to magically make me fluent, so I feel like your point is kind of … well, moot.

Lately, I have two elevator buddies.

Well, not quite but I end up taking the elevator with them every now and then.

The one is from my building. The first time we rode the elevator together, I surprised him. A lot. I dunno if it’s because he wasn’t expecting someone else to be in the elevator (there usually isn’t) or because I wasn’t Japanese… but either way, he was like OH! So I said sorry, and, oh you were surprised [in Japanese], haha. We laughed.

Today, he came into the elevator again, and was all OH!! Surprised, haha. (Am I shocking or something?). Then he laughed and said sorry [in English]. On his way out he gave a little wave and nod. Super cute.

The other buddy I have made works in the same building as my school is in. He has bleached blonde hair, and he’s older. Maybe in his 40′s. Every time I see him now, (it’s always been in the mornings) I said good morning [in Japanese] to him, he replies… then it must click that I’m not Japanese, and he says, GOOD MORNING! Hahahaha. I love it.

One time we were riding down to lunch (Eri and I) and he got in. He was with someone else, and I don’t know who started it, maybe his friend, but they said in Japanese, Oh, it’s cold today. Then my buddy goes in English, IT’S A COLD!! So I said yeah, it’s really cold!! In English back, which for some reason, they seemed to think was great. He seems really friendly.

I like random encounters like this.
I don’t know why, but I do.

… that I totally don’t understand.

Why do people seem to think that “aye” is said like “eh”? I see it a lot… (okay, a lot of the time it’s people asking if Canadian’s really do say, “aye” but we don’t, because we’re not pirates, we say “eh”).

But yes. I mean I could be totally mistaken here… but I’ve always thought that “aye” is like pirate-speak.

“AYE MATEY”.

“Aye” as in, eye. Or pretty close to that. And “eh” as in, brought to you by the letter A.

So where did this “Aye” = “Eh” thing come from?

So the weekend is over, again. I feel like every week, I look forward to the weekend, and then it comes and goes so quickly, like it was never there to begin with.

Having class on Saturday mornings is nice though; I’m almost always home just after noon and I have the rest of the day. This past Saturday, six students came. Thankfully. It was bitterly cold, so I thought that there wouldn’t be such a turn out, but there was.

Granted, it was two groups of three travel-wise.
But it was nice. We started to learn colours.

It’s really annoying how the spell check on this computer (it’s like the automatic kind that underlines the words in red if you misspell them as you type) keeps telling me that ‘colours’ and so forth is wrong.

Oh but that reminds me, I did learn something interesting the other day. That ‘deke’ is a Canadian English word. It underlines that too.
I was actually reading a list of all these words that were used in Canadian English, because I think it’s fascinating. I mean, I think the differences between all the variations of English in general is fascinating.

Sunday, Kat and I hung out. We watched the new episode of Kyle XY (SO GOOD. And this week’s looks awesome and awkward). We also rented two movies. The Duchess and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Both were good, but obviously VERY different, haha. The Duchess left you feeling kind of depressed, well, it left me feeling kind of depressed because I always want to see those wonderful fairy tale endings that aren’t generally present in reality.

I feel like when I started writing this I had a point. Unfortunately, that’s been lost.
