So, this morning Kat and I headed off to Toronto! We were actually going to go yesterday and stay over night at her Uncle’s place, but it ended up not being a good weekend to do that, so we decided to just go up today, for the day.

We made amazing time getting there (no seriously, it was awesome) and picked up breakfast sandwhiches (and tea) from Timmies on the way. We had decided to go to the ROM, because there’s an exhibit on diamonds that we both wanted to see, and I also wanted to see what the new … crystal… thing… that they built on the side there (it looks really stupid from the outside) looked like.

Last time I went, was when Nels was here, and they didn’t have the dinosaurs up, because of the construction. Luckily, they were there today… they’ve always been my favourite exhibits at any musuem.

You couldn’t take any photos at the diamon exhibit, which was a pity because some of the jewelry they had was amazing. There were a few pieces I wouldn’t mind having… haha.

They also had a rocks and minerals display, which was really awesome. Granted, you got a little tired of looking at them after a while, some of the colours were spectacular. This was my favourite one:

It’s rhodonite (okay, I won’t pretend I actually remembered that, but if you enlarge the photo enough you can read it on the sign, haha).

There was also a huge display of Korean, Chinese and Japanese artifacts (including furniture, tools, toys, clothes, paintings, plates, bowls… all that stuff). Some of it was pretty cool, but the pillows… looked ridiculously uncomfortable, haha. Then there were these statues… I realize now that it looks funnier when you see them all, but the one on the right in the photo, looks like it’s doing the robot:

After the museum, we did a bit of shopping… well, looking. We didn’t buy anything, but we went into a few stores and looked around. Got tickets for a movie, and went to grab something to eat, and went back to the movie theatre. In this one cineplex in Toronto, they have this VIP theatre thing (I don’t know if they have this anywhere else), but it’s like a small theatre (24 seats or so) where once you’re seated, they have ushers who get your food and stuff for you. The seats are really nice, and there’s a little table between the seats.

We wanted to go to that, but we got looking at books in Indigo (after dinner, because we had time to kill) and ended up getting there with no options for two seats together. What was really weird, is usually… the usher will ask people to move a bit so the people can sit together, but they didn’t at all. They said we could sit apart, or get a refund and catch the 6:50 show in the regular theatre. We opted for that, because it’s no fun to watch it by yourself.

We went to see “He’s just not that into you”, which was great. So adorable. Of course it left me over-thinking everything all over agian (which I do to begin with). But it was a really good movie. The poeple beside us were IRRITATING. I hate people who go to the movies and are all loud… and… annoying. If you want to make comments to your friends, that’s cool. But don’t make them so loud so that I can hear you (and I wasn’t sitting right next to them).

So yes. It was a successful day, and the drive home wasn’t too bad. People seriously drive like idiots though. I mean, if you’re in the left lane, don’t go below the speed limit.

I’m tired already, which makes me feel lame because it’s not even midnight yet, haha. But of course tomorrow is Monday, and I said I’d be done the parks I’ve been working on by Friday… yeah… not really. I ended up getting bored and side-tracked, so I think I have ten more still to do. I sent them to myself, so I can finish them. I don’t want to disappoint my boss, or anyone for that matter. So I feel like I should at least try to get a few done.

Today my mum and I went over the river (to Buffalo) to do some shopping.

There wasn’t really anything in particular we were going for, she just wanted to go so we planned to and went.

It ended up being pretty successful and there were a lot of sales going on. When we first got there, the ladies in Macy’s were ridiculously pushy… the ones in the perfume section. I know they’re trying to sell things and do their job, but I hate when they like follow you and track you down trying to buy their product. However, I did find out that I like Paris Hilton’s perfume. I think it’s her orignal one; with the pink and black striped bottle. It smells really good and I considered getting it, but in the end I got Harajuku Lovers Love. It was a toss up between Love and Music, but I think Love smells warmer and it fits me better. The bottles are pretty cute… and I like how each scent has a different character. But yes, it smells wonderful and maybe I’ll get the Paris Hilton perfume for Christmas. My parents usually get me one around then because they know I love perfume, haha. I don’t have that many right now, but I’m slowly building a nice little collection.

Anyways, that was longer than intended about perfume, haha.

Normally I don’t wear lipstick. I don’t know why… I guess it’s because I’ve never really had a shade that was good for me. I never actively went out shopping for it, and just used whatever I found around here… even coloured lip gloss. But for some reason, it’s always too dark. But today I found a really nice one. It’s called Old Flame and it’s by Lancome. It’s not like a really heavy lipstick… the saleslady said it was a cross between a lipstick and a lipgloss. So when you put it on, it’s not like ZOMG HI. I like it.

My mum and I got some tea leaves… which might sound random, haha. This place had tea out for sampling at the front of their store, which we happily tried. IT WAS AMAZING. So we had to get the blend. I can’t remember what kinds it is together… it’s a type of chai tea mixed with something else. It’s delicious. My mum also got pumpkin spice bread mix, so I can’t wait until she makes it~!

I managed to find tights (because for some reason, I keep putting holes in mine :/) a new … sweater dress sort of deal — grey and teal. A new pair of shoes (they were 50% off and they’re just for hanging out mostly, nothing fancy), jewelry (I needed earrings I could put in the top two holes… most of mine are too dangley to be able to do that) and I got a really cute watch. It was only $15 and it’s pink and adorable, haha.

Then we went to Bath and Body Works. My dad has a hard time sleeping and at the front of the store was a display with their products that are supposed to help you sleep. On the displays are these plush sheep, sheep masks (for sleeping) and a really soft blanket. The mask is really adorable and we saw this gift set, so we thought maybe we should get it for my dad’s stocking at Christmas. He has a horrible time sleeping so it’s worth a try, right? We were going to get one of the sets, but it came with a white sheep mask that had a pink bow. Which you know, is very UNMANLY. The mask is more or less a joke but it’s cute and hopefully he’ll get a kick out of it. So instead of that set we kind of made our own. We got a black mask, the pillow spray and the stuff you rub on your temples to help you sleep. I’ve never tried that myself, but the guy there said that he’d tried the headache one and it actually really helped. He said he was really skeptical at first and was impressed with the outcome.

So yeah, it can’t hurt to try. They had this deal where if you spend over $15 in the store you get a free plush sheep. We spent over $15 so we got one and they’re so adorable! I think my mum wanted to get a white and brown one, but I really liked the black one… so she said it didn’t matter and get whatever one I want. BUT LOOK HOW CUTE HE IS.

It was a good shopping adventure. And for dinner I had a Buffalo chicken burger. OMG AND I FOUND A TIN OF PRINGLES PIZZA FLAVOURED CHIPS. I don’t know why, but Canada seems to fail when it comes to having those in stock.

I downloaded a new plugin (because plugins are sexy, not as sexy as FANTASTICO, but still pretty hot) so that  could have Twitter right there on my sidebar.

So yesterday Kat and I went to Toronto to do some shopping. We met up with Melinda for breakfast first and then because we had time to kill headed over to Toys’R'Us. We were there READY AND WAITING as they opened the doors.

Originally we had planned to take the GO train from Burlington, but when we got there the trains were all held up because of ‘police investigations’. The lady at the ticket booth suggested we try taking it from Oakville, but she really didn’t know about the delays or when the trains would be back up.

We figured we might as well just drive to Toronto then, because Oakville isn’t that far off so what’s the point of stopping again just to find out they’re not going or having it be super busy, you know?

So we made it to the city, parked and started our shopping adventure. When Kat and I go shopping we never seem to buy loads of stuff but I think this was our most accomplished shopping experience! Haha.

I got a dress that’s purple (purple makes it sound like WOW PURPLE but it’s not), a black one (that’s actually really tight… I almost didn’t get it because it’s that tight, but Kat said it was good and that I should get it and the girl at the store said that it was great, so I figured why not. It’s not that I don’t like it, because I do… I just don’t want to look fat in it, hahaha… but on the plus side I can always wear it as a long shirt with jeans), a t-shirt from Jacob that’s cute… it has a crown on it, a brown sweater, earrings, perfume (Anna Sui’s Flight of Fancy), tights, vanilla body wash… and I think that’s it.

The purple dress, Kat got the same one but in a different colour. Because we’re just that cool. What will make us even more cool is when we wear it together at our high school reunion on Saturday, hahaha. We also got tank tops that were the same, but in different colours… it was two for $25 or $18 each so why not both get one and split the cost, eh?

After shopping (and my feet feeling like they wanted to die… totally wore the wrong shoes, but they matched my outfit) we went to the Pickle Barrel for dinner. We’re kind of sick when it comes to BBQ stuff… so we had BBQ ribs and chicken wings. Plus mozzarella sticks which were made of win and some really nice onion rings.

So that was our good day. It started off a bit rough for various reasons, but ended up being a nice day of shopping.

Yesterday Melinda came over so that we could attempt to fix her computer which had decided to hate life. However, before that happened we headed out to Canadian Tire to look at air mattresses.

So, we were browsing around the store in search for some rubbing alcohol when we came across this:

Okay, so maybe it doesn’t seem so weird right off the bat, but look around it. For further clarification, this was the aisle it was in:

While I understand you can use Q-Tips to clean the ears of your beloved pet, would you really expect to find them stocked in the pet section? It wasn’t just one random box. It was like they apparently belonged there and had their own little tag and everything. O_O I just thought it was really… weird.

Anyways after our little shopping adventure, we tried to fix the computer which actually had some sort of ridiculous virus on it. Sometimes it would turn on and sometimes it would freeze up and decide to just load to a black screen. After hours we got avast! on it and it deleted the virus but it still left stuff messed up.

For example, it made the cursors rather… large. I tried to take a photo, but it turned out kind of blurry. I don’t know if you can tell that it’s actually stupidly big.

We got it to turn on enough so that at least Melinda can get her stuff off. I feel bad that I couldn’t make it all better, but at least she can get her photos and whatever she wants off and then we’re just going to wipe it clean and start all over.

I remember back in June when I had to do that to my computer and while it was a pain in the ass (especially getting some of the stuff I had back), it was kind of nice. It’s like a spring cleaning and you get rid of crap you never even knew you had.

In the midst of all this we watched the series premier of 90210 and played Mario Party.

On Wednesday night, my friend Julie stayed over. She took the bus(es) from Massachusetts to my city and I picked her up at the terminal at around one in the morning. Naturally on my way there I hit EVERY RED LIGHT POSSIBLE and even though there was no one around I felt obligated to wait.

Sometimes, at times like that, I just want to fly right through them, haha.

When we got back to my house, we just hung out for a while. Watched some TV (Trading Spouses was on and as always, the switch was between two families that were extreme opposites) and of course, talked.

In the morning, we went to Perkins for breakfast. I feel like I haven’t been there for years! I had a Beglian Waffle with strawberries on top. Definitely good, and definitely a lot for me to eat, haha.

From there we went to the mall and wandered around a bit. I bought a pair of earrings (featured to your left). They had them in pink and silver as well, and while you’d think I’d naturally go for the pink, I decided on the black ones because I think they looked nicer. The pink was almost too pale. Julie did great at H&M! Lots of clothes for a decent price. It was impressive.

Unfortunately, I had to go to work at three, so we had to cut our visit short. So we went to the car rental place to drop off Julie’s bags (and I parked way too close to a tree) and then I dropped her off at Chapters. We’ll go out for dinner or something before she goes home, so it’ll be nice to be able to hang out again! We don’t get to see each other very often, so it was nice that she was able to stay and visit for a little while.

On Tuesday, Melinda and I went to the mall mostly because I desparately needed a bathing suit.

I have the top for one pair and the bottom for another, but nothing that matches and since we do want to go to the beach this summer, it was about time that I got a new one.

So we went, and I did.

I’m a horrible clothing photo taker (as you can see, haha). The top is reversable and the second picture shows the back of the bottoms.

Actually it didn’t take too long to find one that I liked, but the store we went to… the lady was kind of rude. So there we were, looking around and I found one that I wanted to try on, but it was on the very top hanger. I couldn’t get it down because I’m not that tall and neither is Melinda.

So we stood there for a few minutes after trying to get it down, and no one came around… she was helping these other ladies, which is fine, but she definitely noticed us. Whatever. I tried again, and was able to jump and hit it down.

Then I wanted to go try it on, so I was standing in the door way of the change rooms and she totally walked right past me. So as she passed me, I asked her if it was okay if I tried it on, and she just said, Yeah, go into the room at the end there.

That’s fine. I tried it on, it was just a little too snug.
I wanted to know if they had the next size up. I asked her, and she said no.

So Melinda and I went back to looking… but then she found the size I needed. What the hell?
It was good, because I tried it on and it fit well, but lame because it was totally there and the lady would have let me gone off without it. I half didn’t want to buy it there because of that, but I liked it, so it’s pretty petty to not buy something you like for that reason. It’s not like she made it.

I bought it, and she was super nice when I was paying for it. Which made me wonder if I just misinterpreted the way she acted before… but when someone comes in your store, don’t you at least greet them and TRY at least a little bit to help them? :/
